Creative Writing Lessons: Private 1-on-1 Story Development Editing
97% of people who start writing a book never finish. Don’t be one of them. I will spot the issues in your story and help you to fix them. My editorial expertise lies in fiction writing; short stories, novellas, and of all genres welcome.
Why me?
I am an adjunct creative writing lecturer at James Cook University, and have been teaching and guiding fiction writers at all levels for over eight years. I have published over a dozen books, many with the world’s top publishers, including Penguin, Random House, and Simon & Schuster. My novel, Diary of a Working Girl, was adapted by Disney as Beauty & The Briefcase.
My personal story development editing program was born out of a desire to provide writers with the kind of intensive, honest, and most importantly, practical advice I hungered for throughout my early years as a novelist.
My teaching method is immersive. I give you the tools and you jump in right away. I’ll help you work out why some bits feel slow, what’s not working, and exactly how to fix it. My feedback is full of precise actionable feedback that you will know exactly where and how to implement.
If you have a serious inquiry and would like an estimate for your project outside of the scope of my packages, please don’t hesitate to contact me here.
Student Comments:
“The mentorship was unbelievably helpful. Even better than I expected. . .I started with an idea that I’ve had filed away for years but had no idea how to start, and now I have a fleshed out story, and almost a quarter of it drafted—quite a big achievement in a short period of time!”
“A truly wonderful course!”
“You are a great teacher.”
